“In the third and final part of this enthralling adaptation of Deborah Harkness' All Souls trilogy, vampire Matthew (Matthew Goode) and witch Diana (Teresa Palmer) return from 1590 to discover tragedy at Sept-Tours,” according to the official description published with this information.
“They must recover the missing chapters from the Book of Life, as well as the Book itself before it's too late,” it continues, “but a monster from Matthew's past is waiting for him.”
The series began filming in late 2020 and ended in February 2021, according to executive producer Jane Tranter. “And that's finally a finish on #ADiscoveryOfWitchesS3,” she said on Twitter. The closing hours were spent with @teresapalmer and #matthewgoode, which was fitting. More to follow, but for now, a great thank you to our brave, clever, and talented cast and crew, who worked miracles in the face of a pandemic. “I'm sure @BadWolf TV won't forget.”

What will happen in season 3 of A Discovery of Witches?
While no specific storey elements have been provided at this time, knowing that the third season will be based on Deborah Harkness' trilogy, it shouldn't be too difficult to guess what events will be addressed.
In addition, a new teaser teases a few details. With the Congregation attempting to prevent Diana's offspring from being born and the Clairmont family (mainly) rallying around her, it's an all-out battle between vampires, witches, and daemons following the murder of Diana's aunt Emily.
And one thing is certain: it will be exciting. “Everything seems quite heightened,” Teresa Palmer teased Radio Times during an online panel as part of the BFI & Radio Times Television Festival.
“The risk is tremendous, the passion is immense, the sadness is immense,” she continued. And there's a lot we have to deal with and conquer.”

“To pardon a vampire pun,” her co-star Steven Cree agreed, stating, “The stakes are significantly higher in season three.”
“After season two, we're back in the present.” He went on to declare, “I think it's OK to say that.”
“I believe one of the most fascinating aspects will be the blending of some of those personalities from 1590 with people from today's world.” So I'm looking forward to seeing some of those personalities come together.
“From a personal standpoint, I'm 400 years older,” he continued, “so a lot has occurred and [Gallowglass] is a completely different person.”
“I adore witnessing the journey of every character come to such a lovely, organic finale,” Palmer said, describing filming the last season as a “bittersweet” experience.
“And it's such a great aspect of this season to witness Diana at the top of her power, just leaning into her real self.”
“It'll be sad,” co-star Bluemel concurred.
“I think there's a bit of an edge to it as you shoot it; the other day, we recorded a scene that will be one of the final moments in the entire series, and it had a bizarre last day of school vibe to it, even though it wasn't the last scene we were filming in the entire thing.”
