Destiny 2 Season 17 Release Date: New Pvp Map, Power Caps, Trailer & Latest News!

Here's what we know about the release date of Destiny 2 Season 17, the new PvP map, changes to Iron Banner, and rumors about new content. Destiny 2 Season 17 is almost here, but Bungie is quiet about many details, unlike them.

As expected, this has led to a lot of wild speculation among Destiny 2 players, and Bungie doesn't seem too eager to put an end to it. We still don't even have a name for the 17th Season, let alone a complete list of the expected changes, updates, and additions.

We don't even know where the story is going, but after what we learned in The Witch Queen campaign and the Vow of the Disciples raid, it could go in many different directions.

Destiny 2 Season 17 Release Date

Still, a recent This Week at Bungie blog did reveal some interesting details to keep fans interested.

While we wait for the last piece of information before the new Season comes out, we've put together everything we know about the Destiny 2 Season 17 release date and leaks and rumors we've heard.

Name of Destiny 2 Season 17

Season 17 of Destiny 2 will be called “Season of the Haunted.” This is a reference to both the “Moon's haunted” meme and the spooky atmosphere of the Season, which will see the return of the Leviathan.

Destiny 2 Season 17 Solar 3.0

Destiny 2 Season 17 Release Date

In Season 17 of Destiny 2, the Solar subclass will get a 3.0 makeover. Bungie hasn't told us everything yet, but the Season of the Haunted trailer gives us a sneak peek (which you can watch further down in this guide).

Destiny 2: Iron Banner Changes in Season 17

The biggest news about Season 17 is that Bungie is significantly changing the Iron Banner event. Lord Saladin is now a member of Empress Caiatl's War Council, so the newly named Bracus Forge will only visit the Tower twice a season.

Iron Banner will only run for two weeks, starting on May 31 and ending on July 12. Reputation rewards will now be earned in the same way as Zavala and Saint-14.

Changes have been made to how quickly reputation is earned, but Bungie still wants players to work on the Banner for at least a week as they do for other Seasonal Events.

Destiny 2's New Pvp Map for Season 17

We're getting a brand-new Destiny 2 PvP map for the first time. Disjunction is a symmetrical map set in the swamps of Savathun's Throne World. It is built around the idea of lanes.

Part of this is because the Rift game mode from Destiny 1 is back. Rift is very similar to Halo's Oddball mode, and players compete to grab and hold on to a Spark that appears in the middle of the map.

You get more points the longer you can hold on to the Spark. Rift will also be the new Iron Banner activity, which is much more extensive.

Trailer for Season 17 of Destiny 2

The Season of the Haunted trailer was released by Bungie the morning of the Destiny 2 Season 17 update. It showed some short story snippets, gameplay, and a first look at the Solar 3.0 rework.

With so little time left until Season 17 starts, we expect Bungie to make some last-minute announcements very soon.
