The third and final season of the critically acclaimed Netflix series Dead to Me will premiere on the streaming service that same November. Here's an up-to-date rundown of what we know about Dead to Me season 3, including plot details, guest stars, filming locations, and our best guess for when you may expect to be able to see the new episodes.
Dead to Me, for those who haven't heard, is a black comedy series developed by Liz Feldman and featured on Netflix (who signed an overall deal with Netflix off the back of season 2 of Dead to Me).
Over 30 million people around the world watched the first season of the show, making it one of Netflix's most popular comedies. Awards seasons have also been strong for Dead to Me, with the show taking home five Primetime Emmys throughout the course of its run.
The dynamic between Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini is the show's saving grace. Together they've created amazing chemistry on screen, delivering both funny and heartbreaking comedy and drama.
Dead to Me Season 3 Release Date: When Will It Air?
James Marsden made a surprise appearance to debut the last season of Dead to Me's trailer at Netflix's TUDUM fan event, where the premiere date was also announced. On Thursday, November 17, Dead to Me returns for its third season, and viewers may finally find out how things turn out.
Thrilled to keep working with @1capplegate & @lindacardellini and our amazing writers, cast & crew for one more season! @deadtome has been and continues to be the most creatively & personally fulfilling experience of my life. Profoundly grateful for all of it. 💙 https://t.co/xbWijfG61c

Season 2's cliffhanger and the show's overall success made the third season of Dead to Me all but inevitable. Normally, the season finale would premiere in line with the rest of the series, but 2018 hasn't quite followed the norm.
Season 3 had already begun filming in May 2021, but the cast and crew had to “temporarily pause” to give Applegate some space. Netflix has issued a statement saying they stand with Applegate and will give her all the time she requests. In 2021, the season's production was slowed or halted altogether because of the epidemic.

Speculation on the Dead to Me Season 3 Plot
With Jen's confession to Detective Perez about her role in Steve's murder, the police's net had begun to shut in on her and Judy. As it turned out, Perez let Jen go when he couldn't find the body, reasoning that “what's one murder between friends?”

Meanwhile, Judy handed over a bag of evidence that would implicate Steve and Steve's father to Nick, who had been investigating the circumstances of Steve's death all season. However, when she learned that Jen had not in fact confessed, she had to backtrack and looked very suspicious in the process.
Moreover, Jen's son Charlie discovered a letter his mother had written to Judy, and that was the last straw. The letter not only reveals Judy's role in the hit-and-run killing of Steve's father but also reveals the couple's deadly secret about Steve.
Oh, by the way, Steve's body was supposedly recovered, and on his way to identify it, Ben slammed into Jen and Judy, who were in Charlie's new car. Ben caused the accident and immediately drove off, so there will be plenty of tension to start the season…
Dead to Me Season 3 Cast: Who Will Return for Another Season?
Dead to Me's third season would be pointless without the return of Christina Applegate as Jen Harding and Linda Cardellini as her closest friend Judy Hale, both of whom are essential to the show's success.
James Marsden, who played Judy's ex-husband Steve in the first season, and Ben, Steve's almost-identical twin brother and Jen's love interest in the second, would also likely return. Season 3 may hold surprises for him.
