The official plot summary from the original network Hulu and 20th Century Studios says, “After coming close to dying as a young girl, Darby Harper gains the ability to see dead people. Because of this, she becomes shy and shuts herself off from her high school friends.
She prefers to spend her time counseling lonely ghosts who still have things to do on earth. But everything changes when Capri, the Queen Bee of the school's most exclusive group, dies in an accident while straightening her hair.
Her upcoming “Sweet 17” is obviously canceled because of this. Capri, on the other hand, begs Darby to step in and convince Capri's friends to keep the party going as planned.
Darby must come out of her self-imposed exile and reinvent herself in order to make the undead diva happy. Along the way, she finds new happiness back in the land of the living.
