As previously reported, the Homeland actor has agreed to return to the charity football tournament this weekend to take part once more (12 June).
At the age of 52, McCrory succumbed to breast cancer.
Ben Shephard appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday (9 June) and talked about how he and Lewis McCrory first met on Soccer Aid.
McCrory had always been a vocal supporter of Lewis’s work, he said to the student. “It was an honor for co-host Kate Garraway and myself to attend her memorial ceremony just a few weeks ago,” she said.
There was an outpouring of love and support for her since she passed away, which I’m sure touched your heart, Shephard said.
“People from all walks of life” had reached out to Lewis to express their gratitude for the “effect” his wife had had on their lives. Lewis called his wife a “wonderful human being” after this.
She’d gone out and bought England flags and Union Jack bunting to decorate my hotel room in Manchester’s The Lowry when she came to Soccer Aid for the first time, “which I divulged.”
