The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime came out this week to rave reviews. This version of Night City is much more violent and stylized than the original. It uses the setting of the original game to tell a warning about the cyberpunk way of life.
But there are only ten shows (each with a runtime of thirty minutes). So, keeping that in mind, will there be a second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners?
What is the Story of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners?
The first two episodes set the scene and introduce us to David, a street kid. His mom Gloria works too much, and she dies in a car accident. David decides to get implants to improve his body because he is sad and has been hurt by bullies.
But those implants belong to a crazy man named James Norris, and there are worries that David might become crazy like him. But before this happens, David meets Lucy and her group of friends.
They want David to get the implant, but he deals with them and agrees to work one gig at a time to pay them back. With Maine keeping an eye on the group, the show becomes more episodic as David learns the ropes, gets trained by Lucy, and gets to know the other group members while taking out targets.

Then, everything comes together nicely during one last mission, spread out over two significant, action-packed episodes to end the show on a high note.
Is There Going to Be a Second Season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners?
At the time of writing, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has not been picked up for a second season. Because of what the show is about, that could easily change if it does well for Netflix.
Before renewing a show, Netflix usually looks at many factors, such as how many people watch it at first and how many stop. Some shows, like Squid Game, Bridgerton, and Irregulars, get canceled or renewed quickly. Other times, it can take Netflix months to decide what to do with a show.
So far, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been very well received by critics, who have all given this show very high marks. The audience is also delighted with this, which is always a plus. Considering everything, we think there won't be a second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
How come? There isn't much room for the story to go anywhere unless the focus moves to Lucy and she starts planning revenge. But since most of the main characters died or got a lot of answers, this seems more like a one-and-done deal.

What We Know So Far About Season 2
Since Netflix hasn't approved a second season yet, we don't know much about it. As was said above, the ending doesn't leave much room for a sequel unless the characters are changed, and we follow different people in Night City, which is always possible.
Based on the main characters we meet here, it doesn't look like there will be a second season. We could, of course, be surprised by a renewal and have to eat our words.
A second season would be great, but as we said above, we don't think this will be brought back. We'll update this page when we find out more in the future, though.
