Is There a Cursed Season 2 Release Date? Netflix has decided not to renew Cursed for a second season. Following the premiere of its first season in July 2020, Deadline reports that the show has been discreetly canceled. Anyone who has been keeping up with What's on Netflix since April 2021 will not be too surprised to learn that the show has been canceled.
The Netflix original series Cursed is a Middle Ages fantasy adapted from Tom Wheeler and Frank Miller's Illustrated Ya novel of the same name.
Nimue's mother sends her on a quest to find the wizard Merlin and bring back the Sword of Power after the devastation of her village and people. As the terrible Red Paladins plot to wipe out all Fey, the kingdom's survival is in her hands.

Netflix finally confirmed the show's cancellation for season 2 in July 2021. Netflix did not issue any statements clarifying its decision to cancel. The streamer prefers not to elaborate on their major choices.
Additionally, with the exception of their most successful shows, Netflix does not disclose their shows' audience numbers. Nonetheless, it's probably safe to assume that the show fell short of the streamer's expectations.

It's also probable that the high cost of production, with the pandemic adding another layer of difficulty, was a factor in Netflix's decision to cancel the show.
Can We Assume That Netflix Has Resumed Cursed for Season 2?
Nope. Netflix discontinued Cursed in July 2021. The fantasy series aired on Netflix in July 2020 and trended at number one.
Why Did Netflix Decide to Cancel Cursed After Only 1 Season?
Despite the potential of the show's premise, Netflix probably decided to cancel Cursed since it wasn't as popular as some of their other shows. Critic approval for Cursed was 67% on Rotten Tomatoes, with audience approval at 53%.
Moreover, there is always a stream of new shows and movies to develop, and Netflix had to cancel a few series they had already renewed since they couldn't put them into production because of the coronavirus outbreak.
More important than whether or whether Cursed, a Netflix original series, was well-received is how well it fared in comparison to other series, especially ones with franchise potential. Furthermore, the sets, costumes, CGI, and other elements that go into making a fantasy series might make it more costly to produce.
Cursed was able to garner considerable interest prior to its premiere, thus its cancellation came as something of a shock. The novel by Miller and Wheeler was scheduled for release in the fall of 2019, but Netflix had already bought the series.

Netflix's decision to cast Langford, a known face from the network's infamous adolescent drama 13 Reasons Why, as the lead in Cursed as Lady of the Lake looked like a good one.
There were whispers of a Merlin spinoff even before the release of Cursed. But despite the buzz, Cursed only stayed in the top 10 for a month, and a sequel isn't looking likely at this point.
Brief Explanation of the Cursed Ending
Nimue, played by Langford, was left seemingly dead at the end of the first season after being riddled with arrows and falling into what appeared to be a body of water. Meanwhile, Merlin, played by Gustaf Skarsgard, regained his powers and launched a deadly attack before escaping.
But is Nimue really no longer with us? Will the Fae accept the Weeping Monk, also known as the future Sir Lancelot, who was created by Daniel Sharman? And what are the next steps that Sister Iris will take with the Trinity?
Skarsgard expressed his desire for a second season of the show to RadioTimes.com, saying, “I just wish that we would see a second season.”
“The primary reason is that I can't contain my excitement to find out what takes place with Merlin and the rest of the cast. The tenth episode of this season leaves us on a shockingly high note, and I can't wait to find out what happens next.”
