Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, the upcoming DLC for the game, has been given a release date by developer Studio MDHR.
The expansion has been in the works for quite some time, and it was first announced at E3 2018 when the game was first released. It has been postponed a few times, first into 2020 and then into 2021 by November of last year, but it is still on track. However, we now have assurances that it will be with us on June 30, 2022, as previously stated.
Following the announcement, Co-Director Chad Moldenhauer of the studio shared his thoughts on the matter. “As has been the case for so many of our fellow developers, developing games during these unprecedented times has presented a number of challenges,” he explained. Our thanks go out to the Cuphead community for their patience and enthusiasm as we worked to make The Delicious Last Course a true high watermark of the studio's art, design, and animation.
Cuphead and Mugman will be joined by a new character, Ms. Chalice, in the upcoming Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course. They'll set sail for the Inkwell Isle, where they'll embark on a brand new adventure with all-new weapons, charms, and an entirely new cast of characters. In addition, you'll be able to take on the role of Ms. Chalice in the original Cuphead game.
Check out the video below to see a new trailer that includes gameplay. Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course will be available for purchase in the game on all platforms for which it is currently available. Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC are the platforms covered.
As part of the Delicious Last Course, a new set of levels will be added to Inkwell Isle, where Cuphead and Mugman will face off against giant bosses, and a new adventure will be unveiled that revolves entirely around the mystery of the Legendary Chalice. Along with that, you'll be able to obtain new weapons and charms that can be used in both the newly released content and the existing content.
In 2017, Cuphead was released on the App Store and has since gone on to become a popular indie title. Furthermore, an animated television series based on the game will be produced by Netflix and will premiere in 2022, with the first episode scheduled to air in 2019.
