Who Is in the Crimes of the Future Cast?

Crimes of the Future

In Crimes of the Future, director David Cronenberg reunites with one of his most regular collaborators, actor Viggo Mortensen, who portrays one of the film’s main characters. Mortensen portrays Saul Tenser, a performance artist who is putting on a show for the audience to demonstrate his transformation.

Mortensen has previously collaborated with Cronenberg on films such as A Dangerous Method, Eastern Promises, and A History of Violence. For his work with Cronenberg on Eastern Promises, Mortensen was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

With his previous credits including Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and two more Oscar nominations for his roles in Captain Fantastic and Green Book, Mortensen is most recognized outside of his collaboration with Cronenberg.

A character named Caprice is played by Léa Seydoux, who appears in the film as Mortensen’s accomplice in the crime. Seydoux has appeared in the last two James Bond films, Spectre and No Time to Die, but she has also had a number of memorable roles in independent films, including 2021’s The French Dispatch, Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster, and the Cannes-winning film Blue is the Warmest Color.

Seydoux was born in France and raised in the United Kingdom. She’ll also appear in One Fine Day, a film directed by Mia Hansen-Live that will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022.

Kristen Stewart is the third main character in Crimes of the Future, and she plays the role of the investigator Timlin. Since her Oscar-nominated performance in the 2021 film Spencer, Stewart has not appeared in a feature film. Crimes of the Future is her first film since that performance. Stewart, who first gained prominence with the Twilight series of films, has recently begun to work more in the independent film industry.

In addition to her portrayal in Spencer, the actress has gotten positive reviews for her roles in films such as Personal Shopper, Still Alice, and Clouds of Sils Maria, among others. She had previously worked with Mortensen on the film On the Road, which he directed.

There are several other cast members who have signed on for Crimes of the Future, including Scott Speedman of Grey’s Anatomy, Tanaya Beatty of Yellowstone, Denise Capezza of Gomorrah, Yorgos Karamihos of the Durrell family, Nadia Litz of Private Eyes, and Yorgos Pirpassopoulos of Yorgos Pirpassopoulos of Private Eyes (Beckett).

Who Is David Cronenberg?

Those of you who are unfamiliar with David Cronenberg may be interested to know that he is a Canadian writer and filmmaker who was one of the pioneers of the “body horror” genre. Cronenberg’s feature film career began to take off in the mid-1970s, but it was in the 1980s that he truly broke through with films like Videodrome, The Dead Zone, and The Fly that he became well recognized.

Some of his other well-known films include Crash (which was not nominated for the 2005 Academy Award for Best Picture), eXistenZ, A History of Violence, and Eastern Promises. Crimes of the Future is Cronenberg’s first feature film since 2014’s Maps to the Stars, and it marks his return to the big screen.

Cronenberg had already made a film named Crimes of the Future, which is a fun tidbit to know. Even though the first Crimes of the Future film was released in 1970, this new installment is not a remake of the original film.
