The dystopian science fiction novel Logan's Run by Clayton Jacobson & William Nolan served as inspiration for Michael Anderson's film adaptation. Although it doesn't hold up well to the test of time, the picture is nonetheless enjoyable & significant within its genre.

In the year 2274, humanity evolved into a highly technological society that has adapted to life under a giant dome. Residents of this metropolis don't see any use in life beyond its pleasures & typically perish before reaching their 30th birthday.

Individuals who choose not to contribute to maintaining the delicate ecological balance of that civilization are known as Runners. The runners are being pursued by the Sandmen, a special unit of soldiers. Both Logan's Run & The Hunger Games include dangerous situations for young adults.

This action-thriller, adapted from a Japanese novel by Koushun Takami, established many of the rules that would be used in subsequent battle royale video games. The plot follows a group of 9 students as they find themselves on a mysterious island, armed only with maps & bionic limbs.

They are given 3 days to fight each other until there is only one pupil remaining. If you want to keep track of them, they have to wear a metal collar equipped with radar all the time. When it was first released, Battle Royale was heralded as one of the best movies of the 2000s.

The film was met with mixed reviews & became one of the year's biggest bombs at the box office. With a cast that includes Viola Davis, Harrison Ford & Asa Butterfield as the prodigy child selected to save Earth from a future alien invasion, Ender's Game is arguably a little overlong & often stiffly acted.

Ender's Game is about 2 hours long & in that time it manages to incorporate interesting character dynamics & stunning visual effects a novel takes on the theme of children being made to arbitrate disputes between their elders.

7. Lord of the Flies

Movies Like Hunger Games

William Golding's 1954 novel Lord of the Flies was a huge success & it served as the inspiration for Peter Brook's film adaptation. Stories about survival in a dystopian society, such as those written by Koushun Takami in Battle Royale & Suzanne Collins in the Hunger Games series, owe a great deal to Lord of the Flies.

The protagonists are a bunch of English public school boys who crash-land on an uncharted tropical island. The crash was fatal & no adults were able to escape. So, the boys must work together to stay alive until they are rescued.

Electing a leader & establishing regulations to keep things in order are natural outcomes. Conflicts quickly emerge in the developing society. The Hunger Games makes a better job at world-building & impressively develops upon Golding's ideas than Lord of the Flies does in its expressionistic nightmare tracing down a group's psychological breakdown.
