One of the most overlooked DC films is the 2005 horror film Constantine, which is based loosely on the Hellblazer comic novels. The film, which features Keanu Reeves in the title role of the magician, has become a cult classic, and now, some 20 years after its first release, a sequel is in the works.
You're absolutely correct! A sequel to the popular movie from the 2000s is currently in production at Warner Bros., ensuring that our favorite demon-hunting hero will get the justice he deserves. The original Constantine fantasy film made $230.9 million worldwide, but it was met with negative reviews that put a halt to any plans for a sequel for years.
Fans have been clamoring for a new John Constantine film since the 2005 release, and while we have seen a program centered around the character and iterations in other TV shows like The Sandman and Legends of Tomorrow, they still want to see him back in the theatres.
Congratulations on the positive DC news—your prayers have been answered, and The Digital Fix is here to help. Find out when Constantine 2 will be available, what it will be about, who will be in it, and more right here.
Constantine 2 Release Date: When Will It Air?
A premiere date for Constantine 2 has not yet been announced. Since the project is still in its infancy, we shouldn't expect any major developments for some time.
Although Lawrence and the production team have likely already worked out the broad strokes of the tale, Goldsman still has to put together the script's many moving parts. Add to that the hectic schedules of actors like Keanu Reeves and Francis Lawrence.
Currently, Lawrence is busy with the prequel to The Hunger Games, titled The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and is also attached to the Netflix adaptation of the video game Bioshock.
Since Reeves' career is booming, he likely won't have just the Constantine sequel sitting in his in-tray for a while, as he is currently linked to approximately four series. There is currently no set release date for Constantine 2, the sequel to the 2005 film of the same name.
Who Will Be in the Constantine Sequel? A Look at Its Cast
There will definitely be a Constantine sequel, and it's likely that many of the same actors will reprise their roles from the first film.
John Constantine, a cynical but gifted exorcist who can see and interact with angels, devils, and everything in between, will be played once again by Keanu Reeves. Not only that, but he has the ability to shuttle between the underworld and the surface of the planet.
We have no idea who else will be in Constantine 2, but we're crossing our fingers that the film's major cast from the original film returns.
Rachel Weiz may play Angela Dodson, a detective with the LAPD who has recently been thrust into a world where she must deal with visions and an awareness of angels and demons. Djimon Hounsou is in talks to play Papa Midnite, a voodoo shaman and businessman who runs a club where mestizos and other hybrids can be themselves.
No one knows for sure, but the actors who played angels and devils in the previous film may return to cause more conflict among the mortals. It's possible that Tilda Swinton could return as Gabriel the Angel and that Peter Stormare will return as Lucifer.
It's possible that Chas Kramer (Shia LeBeouf) and Beeman (Max Baker) will return from the dead as well. Because, really, with Constantine, everything is possible.

The Plot of Constantine 2
Following the events of the first Constantine, the sequel picks up the story two months later. The action takes place in Rome, the ancient Roman city.
As the book progresses, we learn about a group of people who are struggling with their own issues while fighting tooth and nail to save humanity from Armageddon.
Constantine is a one-of-a-kind occult investigator with extraordinary abilities. As a result of his supernatural powers, he can tell the difference between angels and demons when they take human form.
Because of his concern for the environment, he keeps a cool, collected manner while remaining constantly aware of his surroundings.
The child Constantine killed himself because he couldn't handle the out-of-this-world experiences he was having at the time. Since this is the case, his spirit will be damned to the lowest levels of Hell.

In a surprising turn of events, it is revealed that Angela was actually the intended victim of a demon named Mammon who is attempting to destroy the world by means of her. Constantine's selfless sacrifice allows him to avoid eternal damnation and save her from death.
Rating
In terms of skills, Constantine has a wide range to choose from. There are some truly spectacular sequences throughout the film, but there are also those that fall short. The corny and hackneyed nature of the film's dialogue is just one example.
On the flip side, the film features a number of memorable scenes that are worth watching. If you're looking for a thrilling moviegoing experience, this one could be perfect for you. The movie has been given a 7/10 rating on IMDB and a 46% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
