MinMax Games, the developer of Space Pirates and Zombies, has announced its latest project: Clanfolk, a Scottish-themed colony sim that will be released on PC via Steam later this year.
Clanfolk places players in command of a Scottish clan in the highlands of medieval Scotland. The game is set in the Scottish Highlands.
Because it has at least 200 percent more plaid than the ordinary colony simulation, this game already appears to be a quite fun experience. Take a look at the trailer for its announcement!
Clanfolk Gameplay
It will be similar to Dwarf Fortress and other colony sims in that you will begin with a small group of clansmen, a few supplies, and a large amount of wilderness to tame.
You'll need to gather resources, create structures, and develop a food supply as soon as possible in order to keep everyone alive and thriving in this world.
Given that this is a colony simulation, it goes without saying that you'll be expected to look after the needs of your clansmen.
Among these requirements are “Hunger, Thirst, Sleep, Warmth, Cleanliness, and a Bathroom,” as well as “Socialization, Fun, Beauty, and an inexplicable need for Plaid,” although I believe the latter is intended to be a joke.
Not a simple task; you'll have to trade with other tribes, endure the four seasons, and deal with natural disasters such as forest fires, among other things.
There will also be an aging mechanic in this game; people will be born, get old, and eventually die. Juveniles receive a learning advantage, although they operate at a slower pace.
Seniors, on the other hand, tend to have the most advanced skills and to provide learning incentives to those that work in close proximity to them. (Of course, Seniors work at a slower pace than Adults do.)
When is the Clanfolk Release Date?
The release date for Clanfolk is expected to be sometime in the fourth quarter of 2021; MinMax Games has not yet released a particular date. The PC version of this game will be released first, through Steam.
As far as colony simulations go, this new title from MinMax Games appears to have some intriguing elements that might make it a worthwhile experience to play.
For the time being, you may add Clanfolk to your Steam wishlist and learn more about the game by visiting its official website.
