Chucky Season 2: Is Official Release Date Out or Not?

The horror television series “Chucky” — based on the “Child's Play” horror film franchise — premiered on Syfy and the USA Network on October 12, 2021, simultaneously in both countries. The series is set after the events of the 2017 film “Cult of Chucky.”

“Cult of Chucky” follows 14-year-old Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), who purchases a Good Guy doll for an art project only to discover that the doll has been possessed by serial killer Charles Lee Ray — aka Chucky. Jake is implicated in several murders in Jake's hometown of Hackensack, New Jersey, after the doll commits several homicides in the town.

The series was created by Don Mancini, who had previously directed three “Chucky” films and written several movies in the “Child's Play” franchise before launching his own production company. Mancini is also the showrunner and executive producer, among other things.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the first season of “Chucky” received overwhelmingly positive reviews, earning a high Tomatometer score of 90 percent and an 88 percent audience score.

The Globe and Mail's John Doyle summarized much of the positive feedback by writing, “Chuckey is a delight; a warped, wise, funny, and very comical series with a few gore-filled episodes thrown in for good measure, but nothing that will make your head hurt. It's a ruthless process of reinvention.”

According to TVLine, the series has been renewed for a second season, much to the delight of the show's fans. Below is everything we know about “Chucky” Season 2 so far.

When Will Chucky Season 2 Be Released?

There isn't much information about the release date and other details because the news of the renewal was only announced in November of 2021, so there isn't much information available yet.

  • We do, however, know that the second season, which was confirmed by executive producer and showrunner Don Mancini in a statement, will premiere next year (via TVLine)
  • The following is the text of Mancini's statement: “Our excitement is building as we prepare to begin pulling the strings on the second season of puppet mayhem with “Chucky.”
  • Sincere gratitude goes out to our partners at USA, Syfy, and Universal Cable Productions for their incredible support and guidance in making Chucky bigger and better.
  • And to the fans, Chucky extends his heartfelt gratitude and the following message: ‘This isn't over, not by a long shot. You'd better keep a close eye on your backs in 2022!'”
  • Given that the first season premiered in October, around Halloween, it appears likely that the second season will do the same in November.
  • However, we'll have to wait for more information before confirming or denying this speculation.

  • The cast of “Chucky” is led by Zackary Arthur, who portrays Jake Wheeler, the show's protagonist and Chucky proprietor. Looking at the model for the upcoming season, it appears that Arthur will almost certainly be returning.
  • In addition to “Chucky,” Arthur's other film and television credits include “Kidding” and “Transparent” (via IMDb).
  • Additionally, we can expect the rest of the primary cast to return for Season 2 — at the very least, the ones who made it through Season 1.
  • Tiffany Valentine (Jennifer Tilly), Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), and Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) are just a few of the characters we can expect to see again in the series.
  • In addition to Jake's friends Devon Evans and Lexy Cross, Björgvin Arnarson and Alyvia Alyn Lind appear as members of the main cast as Devon Evans and Alyvia Alyn Lind, respectively.
  • Junior Wheeler, Jake's antagonistic cousin, played by Teo Briones, was one of the show's main characters during Season 1.
  • However, because Junior did not make it out alive in Season 1, it is unlikely that Briones will be back. Because her death was not shown on screen, Christine Elise, who played Kyle in Season 1, has a better chance of returning.
  • Finally, Brad Dourif takes on the role of the vengeful serial killer Chucky himself. He is best known for his role as Chucky in “Child's Play.”
  • Dourif has voiced Chucky in several “Child's Play” films, including 2017's “Cult of Chucky,” 2013's “Curse of Chucky,” and even 1988's “Child's Play.” After all, the show is named after Dourif's character, so it's safe to assume he'll be back for Season 2.

  • The “Chucky” Season 1 finale aired on November 30, 2021, and it left a slew of plot lines open for Season 2. Season 2 could pick up where Season 1 left off.
  • Even though Andy (Alex Vincent) and Kyle (Christine Elise) believe they have eliminated all of the Chucky dolls, it is revealed that Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) has been busy assembling a possessed army to take over the world.
  • In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Don Mancini, the show's creator and executive producer, stated: “When a franchise reaches its fourth decade, it is attempting to forge ahead into uncharted and unexplored territory.
  • In Season 2, we can certainly expect more from this ruthless killing machine. Furthermore, having multiple Chucky dolls has always appealed to me.”
  • Many “Chucky” fans are looking forward to finding out whether Kyle, a fan-favorite character who has been presumed dead, is dead or if she will rise from the dead like so many other characters in the franchise have in the past.
  • In addition, Nica's (Fiona Dourif) life is put in danger when Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) amputates all of Nica's limbs “in case” Chucky ever regains control over her.
  • If you ask Alex Vincent in a video interview with SyFy if there is anything the actors hope to see for their characters in Season 2.
  • He says speculating may be futile because the show is still in its first season. “Don, his vision is not always what we would expect it to be, even for those familiar with him on a personal level such as we are. Thus, we are kept guessing, and we are kept surprised, we are kept entertained.”
  • Season 1 of the show is currently available to stream on Peacock with a premium subscription in the meantime.
