Over the years, the officers in “Chicago P.D.” have had to solve a lot of horrible crimes and have had to deal with more than their fair share of hardship.
Even when the ninth season of the NBC procedural series starts, two of its main characters are still struggling to come to terms with the events of the eighth season. It's hard for Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), for example, to move on from her kidnapping and assault at the end of “Chicago P.D.”
Season 8 when the show's 9th season starts, but she has to. When “Chicago P.D.” Season 9 starts, Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) is still struggling to come to terms with her role in the death of Kim's attacker, Roy Walton, at the start of the season, as well (Michael Maize).
For them, “Chicago P.D.” Season 9 doesn't give any of the show's characters a lot of time to get some rest. Each new episode of “Chicago P.D.” brings new problems and crimes for its characters to solve. This has always been the case with the NBC show. When Kim and her coworkers have to find out the truth about a lot of really bad crimes, things go a little too far.

Chicago P.D. Season 9: The New Officer is in
Jose Torres joins the Chicago P.D. in the 18th episode of Season 9 of the show. Promo: In this picture, a police officer is dressed in a uniform and talking to a member of the Intelligence Unit.
However, the teaser clip shows Jay Halstead becoming suspicious of Torres. Halstead says to Hank Voight: “He tried to put a man in the ground.” Halstead and Torres fight, and then there is a fight.
It also says, “Who is this recruit really?” This adds to the fire that Torres is up to no good, making it more likely that she is.

How in the World Did Jose Torres get to be so Important?
Fans get to see Jose Torres for the first time in Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 18, which is the last episode. Dennis Garcia is a well-known actor, even though he hasn't had many other roles. One Chicago fans will know him.
During Chicago P.D. Season 8, Episode 4, “Unforgiven,” “Distractify,” Jose Torres first came on the show. Intelligence looked into the murder of a police officer named Mike Blaine, which led them to a woman named Maria.
That's what Maria told the Intelligence. Blaine had been protecting Maria from her abusive ex-boyfriend, she told them. It was Torres who did the bad thing, not the other person.
During Season 8 Episode 4, Torres was caught and jailed for killing Mike Blaine. But now, he's back as an officer. The events of the previous season make it hard to know how Torres' path went. We're hoping that Season 9 Episode 18 will fill in the blanks. Another reason why we don't think Voight will let Torres join the team is because he knew Blaine.
If Jose Torres is still alive when Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 18 is over, it's not clear where the show will leave off. But the ongoing crime drama will keep going well into the end.
If you want to watch the ninth season of “Chicago Police Department,” it starts at 10pm EST on NBC.

Episodes: How Many are in Season 9?
So far, Chicago PD season 9 has been a big hit with fans. Even though it's been making good episodes, fans will want more. So how many episodes will there be in the ninth season of Chicago PD?
He told Variety that all three One Chicago shows will have the same number of episodes as before. And it doesn't look like filming under COVID rules and the Olympics are going to make these seasons shorter, either.
When you think about it, season 6 of Chicago PD had 22 episodes, and the next season, season 7, had 20. Because of COVID, Season 8 had only 16.
That's not the case this year.
The 22 episodes of “Chicago” that we have are for those shows. The season lasts for 35 weeks. To make the shows fit into the season, we'll have to put them back on for 12 or 13 weeks. Asked by Variety, “I'm more than happy to have a preemption that I know will work out well, like the Winter Olympics,” Kern said.
Chicago Med, Chicago PD, and Chicago Fire are taking a break right now because NBC is airing the 2022 Winter Olympic Games on TV.
