The 1999 classic by Gil Junger, “10 Things I Hate About You,” capped off a decade that was jam-packed with teen films. It, like many other works of its day, is an adaptation of a literary classic, in this case, “The Taming of the Shrew” by William Shakespeare.
Cameron, a new student at the university, develops feelings for Bianca, but he is unable to pursue her because of her father's stringent rules: Bianca is not allowed to date until her free-spirited sister Kat does.
Cameron recruits bad lad Patrick & the latter date the grumpy Kat. As time progresses, though, it becomes clear that everyone is receiving a little bit more than they expected. Although it takes the romantic comedy genre by storm, “10 Things I Hate About You” stands out thanks to its realistic foundation.

10. Deliver Us From Eva
Union has appeared in not one, but two contemporary productions of The Taming of the Shrew. In this role, though, she gets to shine as the overbearing big sister Eva. When the boyfriends of Eva's sisters conspire to hire a mutual acquaintance to seduce her, they succeed—perhaps too well—in diverting her attention away from their own relationships.
Union & LL Cool J have amazing chemistry, but their developing romance is only one of the film's many highlights. The emotional center of the picture is found in the relationship between Eva & her younger sisters & in seeing how much she has sacrificed for them since the death of their parents. However, despite the fact that Eva & Ray's romance begins on shaky ground, you can't help but cheer for them to end up together.

Clueless, a retelling of Jane Austen's Emma in a contemporary setting is another all-time great film. In the film, we follow Cher as she navigates the challenges of youth affluence, male attention, and a crush on her stepbrother.

In the late '90s and early '00s, Shakespeare became extremely popular. Films like 10 Things I Hate About You and Deliver Us from Eva were influenced by his writing, and he himself brought us the unlikely but delightful She's the Man.

It's difficult to draw parallels between The Perks of Being a Wallflower and 10 Things I Hate About You, given that the former is more darker and more serious. More attention is paid to the difficulties adolescents face with regard to mental health and isolation. It's not an easy watch, but the bond that forms among Charlie, Sam, and Patrick is well worth the effort.

It's no secret that cheerleading movies are known for their impressive stunts & choreography, but Bring It On, not only had that but also addressed important issues like cultural appropriation. On the other hand, it was equally as racy & goofy as 10 Reasons to Hate You.
