Rapper Gangsta Boo, whose real name was Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, was found dead on January 1. The official cause of death has not been revealed. The woman had reached the age of 43.
The Memphis native joined the group Three 6 Mafia & remained with them until 2001, during which time he made 6 albums. Along with frequently appearing as a guest on the tracks of other artists, she has also recorded three solo albums and a handful of mixtapes.
Adam Rich
Former child star Adam Rich passed away on January 7 at the age of 54; he was best known for his role as Nicholas Bradford on the ABC series Eight Is Enough. The death of Rich, reported by TMZ and CNN, took place in his Los Angeles residence, and a law enforcement source has stated that it was accidental.
The late actor Rich was memorialized in a statement released by his manager, which said in part: “Anyone who knew Adam instantly fell in love with him. What tales he could spin!”
Carole Cook
On January 11, Lucille Ball-trained comedienne Carole Cook died. She would have turned 99 in days. Cook, born Mildred Frances Cook in Abilene, Texas, changed her name to Carole after Ball recommended it. Ball invited Cook to audition for her Desilu Workshop after seeing her Annie Get Your Gun review.
In 2018, Cook suggested assassinating then-President Donald Trump when asked, “Where's John Wilkes Booth when you need him?” In response, the Secret Service visited Cook, who said they “couldn't have been nicer.” “I can't go to prison,” she joked.
Lisa Marie Presley
Lisa Marie Presley, 54, passed away on January 12 after being brought to the hospital for a probable heart arrest earlier that morning. Priscilla told PEOPLE, “It is with a heavy heart that I must deliver the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.”
“Of all the women I've known, she was the most fervent, powerful, and loving. Since we are still processing this tragic loss, we would appreciate your respect for our need for solitude at this time. With gratitude for your support in thought and prayer. There will be no more remarks at this time.
C. J. Harris
A former American Idol contestant C.J. Harris reportedly passed away from a heart attack on January 15. He was 31. The Alabama native placed sixth on the singing competition's 13th season, which aired in 2014.

On January 16, Gina Lollobrigida's lawyer stated that the legendary Italian actress, well remembered for her roles as Esmerelda in 1956's The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Queen of Sheba in 1959's Solomon and Sheba, had passed away in a clinic in Rome. At 95, she was an old lady.
Jay Briscoe
On January 17, the former Ring of Honor wrestling champion was killed in a car crash. He was 38. President of Ring of Honor Tony Khan lamented on Twitter that “Jamin Pugh has passed away,” replacing Briscoe's stage name with his real name.
Fans knew him as Jay Briscoe, and he was a big deal in Ring of Honor from the very first show until today. The Tag Team Champions, Jay and his brother Mark, still hold sway over ROH. We'll help out his loved ones in every way we can. Jamin, you will be missed.
David Crosby
The death of David Crosby was reported in the media on January 18th, 2023. Pat Dance, the sister of Bing Crosby's late wife Jan Dance, texted the New York Times on Thursday night to report that Crosby had passed away “last night.” Crosby is well-known for his work with The Byrds and as a co-founding member of the band Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.
