Canada’s Most Famous Twitch Stars

Twitch has revolutionized gaming on all fronts. Today, the platform has 17.5 million daily users who tune in to live streams or broadcast their own. Each month, over four million streamers hit the airwaves to game live, connect with subscribers, or even use the recently added ‘just chat’ feature.

Not only has Twitch helped push eSports into headlines worldwide, but the platform also represents a huge number of smaller interests. Along with US streamers, Canada is home to some of the most influential streamers in a broad range of categories.

For example, poker in Canada is extremely popular. Players looking to jump into the World Series of Poker might tune in to a Canadian poker streamer like VanessaKade to learn a few new strategies. Other streamers, like CanadianGamerMom, play popular classics like Fortnite—but they do it in a hilarious and casual style.

No matter your interests, there’s a Twitch stream that brings you exactly what you want. But if you’re looking for popularity, high numbers of subscribers, and overall fame, start with the three Canadian Twitch streamers listed below.

Canada’s Most Famous Twitch Stars

Michael Grzesiek

There are few names as big as ‘Shroud’ in the world of eSports. Not only is he one of the most lethal Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players of all time, but he’s also one of the most prolific Twitch streamers. In fact, as of April 2022, he is the seventh most-followed channel on Twitch with over 10 million subscribers, (not to mention that, on YouTube, he has another 6.8 million).

Like Lengyel (below), Grzesiek took a break from professional eSports in 2018 to focus on his Twitch career. Along the way, he’s sampled other popular platforms, like the short-lived Mixer project. However, as of 2020, he streams exclusively on Twitch where he’s able to leverage high-profile sponsorships such as with Logitech.

Félix Lengyel

Félix Lengyel has been a prominent streamer on Twitch since its early days back in 2016. Then, he gained a following for his skills in the game Overwatch. Since then, he’s become one of the greatest influencers attached to Luminosity Gaming and Sentinels. He’s even competed on behalf of Team Canada in the Overwatch World Cup from 2017 to 2019.

However, after running into a few setbacks in professional eSports, Lengyel pivoted back to Twitch in 2018. By midway through 2021, he led all Twitch streamers in terms of viewership with over 163 million hours watched.

Imane Anys

‘Pokimane’ isn’t just one of the most recognizable names attached to the Twitch platform—Imane Anys is the most-followed female gamer on the website. By 2017, Anys had 450,000 followers on the platform, who enjoyed watching her play Fortnite and League of Legends.

Since then, she’s transformed her following into multiple career paths. Anys is also leading Offline TV, a social entertainment website co-run by popular content creators. Unlike Grzesiek and Lengyel, Anys is known for her long-form streams that highlight her chatty personality. In other words, it’s not just about eSports, but also about connecting and building a community. As of February 2022, Anys streams exclusively on Twitch.
