Can the Detroit Pistons Avoid Another NBA Eastern Conference Wooden Spoon This Season?

The NBA regular season is very much in its primitive stages but once again, the Detroit Pistons look set to be in a battle against the wooden spoon in the NBA Eastern Conference this season.

Possessing a dim recent record has been a tough one to take for Pistons fans, who have ended the campaign in the bottom three of the Eastern Conference in each of the last three seasons.

Competing at the top end of the Eastern Conference was never going to be on the cards this term for the Pistons but it has been an underwhelming start to the campaign.

Just 4 wins on the board from the opening 19 games isn’t the sort of return Pistons fans had hoped for this term and as a result, they are currently floundering at the foot of the Eastern Conference table.

Exciting talents in the form of Jaden Ivey and Cade Cunningham will surely come good more consistently for the Pistons but currently, they are battling away just to pick up results in the Eastern Conference.

There have been small snippets of quality from the Pistons though, who picked up a hard fought win over the Denver Nuggets last time out and they know that any sort of result against the likes of the Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic would propel them up the table.

Whilst the Pistons troubles have been well documented and they have a fight on their hands to climb the table, it has been all about the Boston Celtics in the NBA Conference table.

13 wins from 17 games played is exactly the sort of form that has playoff winners written all over it and having lost in the NBA Championship final last season, the Celtics certainly have the bit between their teeth this term.

The Boston Celtics are the favorites to win the Eastern Conference at +240 and given the form they are in currently, it could be another successful season at the TD Garden.

Elsewhere, the Milwaukee Bucks remain one of the standout sides in the Eastern Conference and beyond and they have one of the league’s most outstanding players in Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks have produced some excellent results this term and they too are very much in the mix at +260 to win the NBA Eastern Conference this season as per various online sportsbooks.

Sitting on the periphery are two very exciting sides in the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers and should the Bucks or the Celtics come into trouble at the top of the pile, they will be ready to strike.

Coming in at +800 and +950 respectively, both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers should be in the hunt for the NBA Eastern Conference title this term.
