Stephen shared a beautiful photo of himself and the actor Ned Shaw, who plays his son Teddy in the show. Call the Midwife returns to our televisions on Christmas Day, even if we don't know the exact date yet. Call the Midwife season 12 is expected to premiere in January 2023, as is customary for the rest of the season to show in January.
BBC iPlayer now has all 11 seasons of Call the Midwife back online. Call the Midwife season 12 premiere date in the United States has yet to be revealed, but we'll let you know as soon as we learn more.
The BBC has also granted the go-ahead for a 13th season, which will air in 2024.

When it comes to impending storylines, Nonnatus House has no shortage of drama. “The stories we tell are like kids – they never stop coming, we love them all, and we swear to do our best for each, and everyone,” show writer and creator Heidi Thomas teased.
Trixie's return is a given. Thus there's a good chance that Matthew and Trixie will get romantically involved. This season's baby heartbreak could lead to Lucille and Cyril becoming parents for the first time.
Who is Returning to the 12th Season of Call, the Midwife?
All of the regular Call, the Midwife actors and actresses are expected to return for the upcoming third season.
While Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter) is expected to return, it is also likely that Sister Hilda (Fenella Woolgar), Sister Monica Joan (Judy Parfitt), Nurse Nancy Corrigan (Megan Cusack), Nurse Phyllis Crane (Linda Bassett), and Miss Higgins (Joan Cusack) will also be back (Georgie Glen).
Nurse Lucille Robinson (Leonie Elliott) and her on-screen husband Cyril Robinson (Zephryn Taite) are also rumored to be making a comeback.
Other returning cast members include Fred Buckle (Cliff Parisi), Violet Buckle (Annabelle Apsion), and Reggie Jackson (Daniel Laurie), in addition to Olly Rix's Matthew Aylward (Matthew Aylward).
Family members such as Shelagh Turner (Laura Main) and their son, Timothy Turner (Josh Hutcherson), are also returning (Max Macmillan). Stephen McGann, who portrays Dr. Patrick Turner, hinted to the Radio Times(opens in new tab) that more recognizable figures would return to the show: To begin with, I can tell you that the Christmas special features the triumphant return of several beloved characters from the show's past.
“I think it pulls on its past again, but there's still a lot of joy during Christmas,” he explains. It said there's also a compelling narrative and telling that has been a lot of fun.
What Happened at the End of Call the Midwife Season 11?
Dr. Turner and Sister Julienne's lives were in jeopardy in the season 11 penultimate episode of Call, the Midwife. Dr. Turner and Sister Julienne's well-being was at stake throughout the series, and viewers were relieved to see them both emerge from the ordeal alive and well at the end of the run.
The Nonnatus House gang posed for a group shot, even Nurse Crane returning from her vacation to help the group get back on track and get through the train situation.
