Evgeny Brooks Laich (born June 23, 1983) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey forward who played in the National Hockey League (NHL).
His NHL career spanned four teams: the Ottawa Senators, Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Los Angeles Kings, during which time he appeared in over 750 games.
As a result of acquiring Peter Bondra, the Senators traded for the services of Brooks Laich, who had been selected by Ottawa in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Prior to his professional career, Laich played for the Moose Jaw Warriors and Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League (WHL).
A silver medalist at the 2003 World Junior Championships, and a member of Team Canada again in the 2010 World Hockey Championships, he has played for his country on a worldwide stage.

Playing Career
During the 2000–01 season, Laich made his junior hockey debut with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League. He appeared in 71 games for the Warriors, scoring nine goals and assisting on 21 others.
Moose Jaw gave Laich the club's Scholastic Player of the Year title for the 2000–01 season because he was a committed student. The Ottawa Senators selected him in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round, 193rd overall.
When he was dealt with the Seattle Thunderbirds along with Tomá Moj for Craig Olynick and Stas Avksentiev, he began the 2001–02 season with the Warriors. Because Olynick quit the team and Avksentiev failed to report, the agreement was a thorn in the side of Warriors supporters.
