Snap Shot of Brooklyn Nine-Nine Series

The fictitious 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn is home to a team of detectives commanded by the serious and intellectual Captain Raymond Holt.

Jake Peralta, an investigator with a high record of solved crimes despite his laid-back and frequently juvenile demeanour, gradually falls for Amy Santiago, his geeky, by-the-book yet capable partner. Jake's best buddy, the shy and faithful Charles Boyle, is frequently paired with Rosa Diaz, who is passionate and violent.

Michael Hitchcock and Norm Scully, the two elder investigators, frequently appear inept and sluggish, yet they were previously famous detectives. Next, sergeant, then Lieutenant, Terry Jeffords, a gentle giant and dedicated family guy, is in charge of the detectives.

The precinct also contains caustic and domineering civilian administrator Gina Linetti, who despises her work, arranges her life around social media, and has dance as a life ambition during the first five seasons and the first few episodes of the sixth.

Summary of Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8

As a consequence of the COVID-19 epidemic and the George Floyd demonstrations, the precinct undergoes significant changes. After losing trust in the system, Rosa quits her position and becomes a private investigator, Holt tries to preserve his connection with Kevin, and Hitchcock retires but remains in touch with Scully via FaceTime.

During their first year as parents, Jake and Amy try to keep their professional life under control.

Interesting things to Know

Michael Schur and Dan Goor, who knew each other since they were Harvard University students and had worked together on the sitcom Parks and Recreation, came up with the concept of setting a comedy in a police station, which they felt had been underused in television comedies since Barney Miller.

They offered the idea to Universal Television, a production firm with whom Schur had a development agreement. Despite signing on to create the show, Universal's parent company's network, NBC, declined to run it, so the couple sold it to the Fox Broadcasting Company.

In May 2013, Fox ordered 13 episodes of the single-camera ensemble comedy. The show was picked up for a full season of 22 episodes in October 2013, and was then chosen to run as the Super Bowl XLVIII lead-out programme with the sitcom New Girl in a “special one-hour comedy extravaganza.”

The show is shot in the CBS Studio Center in Studio City, California. The 78th Precinct building in Brooklyn serves as the external perspective of the fictitious 99th Precinct structure.

The sitcom was cancelled by Fox in May 2018 after five seasons. TBS and NBC, as well as streaming platforms Hulu and Netflix, initiated talks immediately after to renew the series for a sixth season.

Goor revealed that NBC has picked up the series for a sixth season, consisting of 13 episodes, 30 hours after the termination, after fans began a social media campaign demanding for a renewal.
