Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have separated after only 14 months of marriage. The fitness instructor, 29, filed for divorce from the pop star, 41, on Wednesday (16 August), the same day that the couple announced their separation. Since then, numerous allegations have surfaced about Spears' alleged infidelity and Asghari's purported attempts to renegotiate their prenuptial agreement.
Throughout the pop star's lengthy conservatorship struggle, which ended in November 2021, it appeared that Asghari was Spears' support system as she tried to have her father, Jamie Spears, surrender control of her multimillion-dollar assets.

Britney and Sam announced their split on separate occasions in August. In a lengthy Instagram message, the “Oops! I Did It Again” musician announced the news of her divorce. Sam allegedly filed for divorce on August 16, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation.

The Princess of Pop continued, “I've been playing it strong for way too long, and my Instagram may appear flawless, but it's far from reality, and I believe we all know that I would love to express my feelings and cry about how I truly feel, but [for] some reason, I've always had to hide my flaws.
If I wasn't my father's strong soldier, I'd be sent away to be treated by physicians. But that was when I needed my family the most!! You should be loved absolutely, without conditions. So, I'll be as strong as possible and try my best!!! And I am doing pretty well. Anyway, have a wonderful day, and don't forget to smile!!!”
Sam, the personal trainer, attempted to strike a positive tone in his own Instagram statement.
“After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” he wrote over a black screen. “We will keep our love and respect for each other, and I wish her all the best. “S**t happens. Asking for privacy sounds ludicrous, so I'll just ask everyone, especially the media, to be courteous and thoughtful.”

The following year, Sam spoke with PEOPLE about their breakup, calling their previous marriage an “amazing experience.”
“It was a blessing to be able to share my life with someone for so long. And individuals grow apart and go on,” he added, before emphasizing that he did not want to convey unpleasant information about his previous relationship. “That's something I'm never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that's always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.”

Since Sam filed the petition in August, it appears that the couple is still working out the terms of their divorce. According to Page Six, the former couple signed a prenuptial agreement before getting married.
