A Gist About Britannia Season
- Britannia takes place in 43 AD, during the Roman invasion of Britain. Ninety years before, Julius Caesar had failed to conquer Britain.
- General Aulus Plautius (his second-in-command, Lucius, is the centurion who murdered Jesus) is hell-bent on succeeding where Julius Caesar failed, no matter what it takes. He creates a fortified camp as a cunning warrior.
- He learns the Druids are the driving force behind the different kingdoms and tribes by gathering information from captives, including youngsters.
- “You don't conquer the people; you must conquer their gods,” he concludes. He meets with the Druids and embarks on a vision quest, but he soon finds himself conversing with Lokka (Loki), the Celtic deity of mischief.
-
When the Romans crushed the Cantii tribe, young Cait of the Cantii tribe was about to become a woman.
-
She wanders the jungle, torn between childhood and womanhood. Divis “The Outcast,” an unusual guardian, becomes her ally.
-
He is a Druid with mystical abilities such as divination, hypnosis, and visions, yet he appears insane and is exiled by Veran, the Druids' leader in Britannia.
-
Divis scours the countryside for clues to his apocalyptic visions and scampers around aimlessly on some enigmatic “mission.”
