With the release of tvOS 16.3.3, Apple has addressed an issue that had been plaguing the third-generation Apple TV 4K.
A few weeks after tvOS 16.3.2 was released in mid-February to address failed Siri requests, the latest update is here. The most recent update automatically applies fixes.
Apple TV users can get the update wirelessly by going to the Settings app, selecting System, and then selecting Software Update. If the feature is enabled in tvOS, it can also be installed automatically.
Apple says in its release notes for tvOS 16.3.3 that it “fixes an issue where the Siri Remote can become unresponsive on Apple TV 4K (3rd generation).” Apple may have also made the standard performance and stability upgrades, albeit the company makes no mention of them.
Apple has entered beta testing for tvOS 16.4, which, like iOS and iPadOS 16.4, is anticipated to release this spring.
9to5Mac commenters initially seem disappointed with the release, however most direct their ire towards Apple's slow response, lack of communication, and/or the fact that the update isn't currently accessible on their devices, among other issues.
It is unknown whether or not the fix is effective because none of Macworld's writers have encountered the bug.
