The first time Blue Exorcist aired, it was a huge hit. Rin Okumura and his twin sister Yukio, who was raised by their adoptive exorcist father, are the protagonists of the action anime series based on Kazue Kato's manga. Anime premiered in 2011 with the debut of the first season. The “Kyoto Saga” grew out of the first season, which culminated in a film and a second season. As a cult classic, Blue Exorcist fans have wondered if Rin would have any more demon-slaying adventures in a possible third season. Read on to find out if Season 3 of Blue Exorcist is in-store or not!
What is Blue Exorcist about?
Blue exorcist is written and illustrated by Kazue Kat, is also known as the Ao no Ekusoshisuto. Since April 2009, Shueisha has been serializing the manga in the Jump SQ magazine, with individual chapters being collected into 26 tankbon volumes as of December 4, 2020. It was inspired by a one-shot written and illustrated by Kazue Kato, titled The Miyama-Uguisu Mansion Incident, which first appeared in the September 2008 issue of Jump SQ and served as the inspiration for the Blue Exorcist manga.
The series was first adapted into an anime television series by A-1 Pictures, which aired from April to October of 2011 and was produced by A-1 Pictures. The same studio went on to produce a film, titled BLUE EXORCIST THE MOVIE, which premiered in December 2012 and was directed by David Lynch. In January 2017, a second season of the anime was released, covering the manga's Kyoto Impure King arc.
Will there be a season 3 of Blue Exorcist?
Patience is essential, but it is also a characteristic that Blue Exorcist fans share in common.
Between the first and second seasons of Blue Exorcist, there was a significant time lapse between the two seasons.
“Kyoto Saga” fans had to wait five years for the second season to premiere after the first season ended in 2011. The season finally premiered in 2017.
Because of the huge gap between the previous two seasons, there is a glimmer of hope for a third season.
The release of the next Blue Exorcist anime chapter, which is expected in 2022 or even 2023, does not appear to be out of character for the show.
Another factor that could influence whether or not a third season is produced is the popularity of the manga.
According to Crunchyroll, by the year 2016, the manga had sold more than 15 million copies worldwide.
In addition, as this Anime News Network story points out, the Blue Exorcist anime series had a significant impact on manga and paperback sales when it first aired on television.
A new season of the manga, which is currently in production, could result in a similar increase in sales.
What is going on with the manga?
Speaking of manga, the anime show has more than enough storylines to draw from for the upcoming season, which is great news for fans of the genre.
A lot of the major plot elements from the first manga volumes have already been incorporated into the television show.
As a result, season 3 will most likely begin with manga volumes 10 and 11, rather than with manga volume 9.
Starting with this chapter, a sequel to the “Kyoto Saga” is introduced, detailing Rin's conflict with Lucifer, the King of Light, and his Illuminati organization.
However, no information about the third season has been made public as of this writing. As a result, we can predict how the latest season will begin by observing how the previous one ended.
In addition, there is no deadline to meet. As a result, we should be expecting a statement for the third component later this year at the earliest.
Season 3 is expected to premiere sometime in January 2023, according to current expectations. Unless Ao no Exorcist Season 3 follows the same schedule as the previous two seasons, it is expected to premiere in April 2022 at the earliest.

What is the plot of Blue Exorcist Season 3?
The world of Ao no Exorcist is comprised of two dimensions that are joined together as if by a mirror. Assiah, the first in the world in which humans live, which is the second. The other is Gehenna, which is the world of Demons. It is normally impossible to travel between the two, and indeed, to have any kind of communication between the two. The demons, on the other hand, can cross over into this world if they take possession of anything that exists within it.
But even though Satan is the god of demons, he lacks one thing: a container in the human world that is strong enough to contain him! Rin Okumura, his son from a human woman, was created specifically for this purpose, but will his son agree to his plans, or will he transform into something else…? Because Father Fujimoto attempted to return Rin to the Demon world by killing him, Rin embarked on a journey to become an Exorcist, where he learned how to become powerful enough to defeat Satan while also dealing with the consequences of being Satan's son.
