Black Widow Movie Review
Black Widow is a consolation movie that contributes little to the MCU and the character. Natasha deserved better. The Avenger was introduced in Iron Man 2 as a s*xualized superspy before being given greater complexity in Captain America and Avengers. Before she sacrificed herself in Avengers: Endgame (one of the MCU's rare actual deaths).
Cate Shortland's Black Widow, the MCU's first solo female director, is decent. Black Widow is a forerunner to Nat's (long-overdue) origin movie. Draco's daughter, Budapest, and the Red Room are examined and explained. It's disappointing because a favorite character dies.
Between Civil War and Infinity War. General Ross hunts the Sokovia-breaking Avengers. As she hides from one adventure, another from her history finds her. It's a recurring motif, but I wasn't distracted by its conveniences.
Most Marvel movies have villains. Taskmaster is a mind-controlled assassin with a link to our protagonist's past. Recognized? Taskmaster rips off Winter Soldier without the menacing presence and expected payout. Drayton (Ray Winstone armed with a shaky Russian accent). The white male leading women against their will seems fantastic on paper, but he's an awful person who talks about it.
This movie's moments hint at its potential. Nat's universe. The distant, adaptive former spy who has discovered compassion and connection. I wanted more spoken.
Black Widow is a “great MCU movie” It fails to offer a popular and often-overlooked character a fitting send-off and is a massively mounted, uninspiring reminder of one of the MCU's most significant failures. Natasha is deserving.

The MCU's Most Well-known Female Character is Mishandled in the Marvel Studios film “Black Widow.”
When Cate Shortland's Black Widow was released in 2021, many wondered what took so long.
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in Iron Man 2. (Favreau, 2010).
She was the only female superhero in the MCU before Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) (Whedon, 2015).
Since then, there have been female heroes in Black Panther, The Wasp in Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in Captain Marvel (Boden & Fleck, 2019).
Black Widow appeared in seven MCU films before dying in Endgame (Russo Brothers, 2019).
Seven times in nine years, MCU producers and Johansson teased a solo Black Widow film.
Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Ant-Man all got solo movies during that time. The Covid-19 epidemic delayed Black Widow's publication by 14 months.
The film's setting between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War didn't help (Russo Brothers, 2018).

This made the 2021 picture appear to be from 2017. Four years later. Black Widow felt like a ‘too little, too late' mishandling of the MCU's most essential female character. Not good.
How does Black Widow hold up a year after its debut, despite its lateness? How did its pandemic-affected rollout affect its success? Is it a fascinating story or an obligation? See.
