Later this year, Black Panther 2 will be released in theatres (hopefully). Despite a week's delay caused by Covid, work on the much-awaited MCU sequel is now set to end up in February 2022. When Letitia Wright had an on-set injury in November 2021, she was given time off between November 2021 and January 2022 to heal.
Back in May 2021, it was announced that the sequel will be titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The sequel is now scheduled for release in November 2022, two months later than the previous target date of May 2022. Wakanda will be the first time we've been back there since August 2020, when Chadwick Boseman tragically died.
Angela Bassett, who will reprise her role as T'Challa's mother Ramonda, said that everyone felt the presence of Chadwick and missed him on the throne during the first week of filming for the film.
In spite of this, “we all gathered together and just paid respect to him before we began, which was fantastic… everyone just uttering lovely words about him expressing how much we care and how much he enlightened and inspired us.”
Although the fate of Boseman is yet to be decided, there is still a wealth of information to enjoy as we await the release of the sequel next year. That said, let's get to the meat of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, shall we?
Black Panther 2 Cast
“There's only one Chadwick, and he isn't here,” Marvel Studios EVP Victoria Alonso stated recently. While we wait to see how we may honor this part of our history that has been so unexpected, so sad, so dreadful, actually, our monarch has regrettably died in real life and not only in fiction.
“So much of the comics and that first movie in the realm of Wakanda,” said Kevin Feige. The fictional African nation of Wakanda is ripe for an investigation into its many peoples and customs. The following narrative was always and originally centered around this one….. No CG Chadwick and no T'Challa are going to be cast in this movie.
Both Letitia Wright and Winston Duke will reprise their roles as Shuri and M'Baku in the sequel. Also returning are Angela Bassett and Danny Sapani as Ramonda and M'Kathu.
Tenoch Huerta, the actor of Narcos: Mexico, is allegedly in discussions to portray one of the sequel's antagonists, although Marvel has yet to confirm allegations that Duke would have an “increased role.”
Daniel Kaluuya's future as W'Kabi is still up in the air, but Martin Freeman will be back as CIA operative Everett Ross, according to Deadline. A “simply wonderful” filming experience has been touted by Sapani recently, raising expectations for the eventual result.
Will Killmonger, played by Michael B. Jordan, be making a comeback? Because Killmonger was slain in the first film, it seems impossible, yet strange things have occurred.
Black Panther 2 Release Date
The release date of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been pushed back from October 2021 to November 11, 2022.
The sequel replaces The Marvels, which is pushed back to February 17, 2023, a four-month delay from its original release date in July 2022. In the meanwhile, we're hoping this will be the final shift.
As previously indicated, filming began in June of 2021 but was put on hold from November of that year to the beginning of January of the following year. In January 2022, production was restarted, however, there was an additional week-long delay following the resumption.
However, now that filming is concluded, it is possible that the film will be released on November 11 as originally planned.
Black Panther 2 Plot
All we know for sure about the sequel now that we know that T'Challa is not going to be a recast is that it will focus on the realm of Wakanda and beyond.
Only that we're really thrilled can be deduced from the first set shot.
The sequel to “Wakanda” has yet to be released, but it appears that we'll get to know a variety of individuals and learn more about the “mythology” of Wakanda.
Official narrative details have emerged from Production Weekly, confirming that the aquatic villain Namor will appear in Wakanda Forever.
To protect themselves from the rest of the world, both Wakanda and Atlantis are secret societies with superior technology and militaristic capabilities that have chosen to isolate themselves from the rest of humanity “the fine print was clear to see.
As a prequel, they might explore more of Wakandan history with Kevin Feige's suggestion that he wants to do so in the sequel.
“T'Challa takes the herb again at the end of the movie and meets his father, who tells him, ‘Hey, man.' I think we made a mistake and I want to fix it “he said to EW.com.
“All of T'Chaka's ancestors gather in front of him at this very instant. ‘I want to see… what's their story?' we would jokingly ask. What's up with that? Bashing was Wakanda's first monarch, but who was he? Behind T'Chaka, there's a third figure. In 1938, what was their situation in Wakanda? That would be a great idea.

However, we don't expect to see anything until summer, maybe at Comic-Con, when filming is expected to be completed. There is one thing we'd want to see though.
