Season 5 of Big Mouth will reunite Bridgeton's horniest teenagers for even more melodrama and big emotions. Nick Kroll as Nick Birch/Maury the Hormone Monster (and more), John Mulaney as Andrew Glouberman.
Jessi Klein as Jessi Glaser, Jason Mantzoukas as Jay Bilzerian, Andrew Rannells as Matthew MacDell, and Maya Rudolph as Connie the Hormone Monstress are all set to return for the Netflix animated series.
Ayo Edebiri will also reprise her role as Missy Foreman-Greenwald, which she began near the end of Season 4 after Jenny Slate chose to step down in 2020. “At the start of the show.
I reasoned that I could play ‘Missy' because her mother is Jewish and White — as am I,” Slate wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “However, ‘Missy' is also Black, and People of color should play black characters on an animated show.”
Season 5 will also appear to highlight Ali (Ali Wong), a pansexual student first introduced in Season 3, as well as introduce several new characters. It will include new creatures called lovebugs, which can transform into hate worms depending on the kids' emotional state.
This is intended to set up Big Mouth's upcoming spinoff Human Resources, which will delve into the “far more adult” world of the creatures the kids have met in the original series, such as the Shame Wizard and Depression Kitty, Hormone Monsters, and others.
