Rebecca Sara Newton is an American actress who was born on July 4, 1978. She is best known for her appearances as Amanda Tanen on the television show Ugly Betty and Quinn Garvey on the television show How I Met Your Mother.
Early life
Newton was born in New Haven, Connecticut, to composer and arranger Thomas Newton and violinist Jennifer Newton (née Chase), who was born to composer and arranger Bruce Chase and violinist Fannie (née Paschall) Chase.
Newton's paternal grandparents were composer and arranger Bruce Chase and violinist Fannie (née Paschall) Chase. Her ancestry includes both Czechs and Englishmen.
She began her career by acting in musicals and plays in community theatres and went on to study European history at the University of Pennsylvania, from which she received a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Soon after receiving his diploma, Newton relocated to New York City, where he quickly found work in a number of television advertisements for firms including the Olive Garden.

Career
From 2006 through 2010, Newton played Amanda Tanen in the ABC comedy-drama series Ugly Betty.
Newton co-hosted the official Ugly Betty podcast with her co-star Michael Urie. In addition to that, she co-starred with Urie in the ABC.com online series Mode After Hours. After four seasons, Ugly Betty was canceled in 2010.
As part of New York City Center Encores!, Newton appeared in a reimagined production of Girl Crazy, directed by Jerry Zaks. Real-life spouse Chris Diamantopoulos acted as Molly Gray in the show.
