Barbarians Season 3: Release Date Confirmed on Netflix!

Barbarians Season 3: Barbarians was a huge success for Netflix, instantly becoming the most popular German-language series ever on the platform and quickly securing a second season.

It may have taken a few years, but fans were undoubtedly looking forward to the new episodes, with a significant increase in linked searches for the season ahead of its debut on October 21, 2022.

Barbarians season 2 is now available and is as good as, if not better than, the first season, thus the chances of it performing well again are high.

That indicates the prospects of a second season are pretty favorable as well. If you're a fan who's curious about the show's future, you've come to the perfect place. Here's everything we know so far.

Will There Be a Third Season of Barbarians?

Netflix hasn't issued an official statement yet, but it's only a matter of time, and if the current trend continues, we'll find out sooner rather than later. Season 2 of Barbarians concludes on a massive cliffhanger, with Thusnelda and her son Thumelicus being brought to Rome as Tiberius' prisoners after being betrayed by Thusnelda's parents.

Barbarians Season 3

The Cherusci tribe and some of its neighbors are still largely united under Ari — or Marbod, it's unclear at this point — but their numbers have been substantially reduced as a result of the Roman camp assault, and Folkwin, one of their most tenacious warriors, is dead.

There is still a lot more tale to be told here. In its first month on the streaming site, the first season of Barbarians received 37 million views. The second may not fare as well after a two-year hiatus, but it will undoubtedly be a success.

It'll be interesting watching Netflix's Top 10 to see how it does, but chances are it'll be a respectable effort. Barbarians will most likely be revived for a third season. If so, it will most likely be released in 2024.

Recap of Barbarians Season 2

It's been two years since Netflix released the German historical drama series Barbarians, and if you haven't seen it yet, now is the time because the second season is about to be released, and no one likes feeling left out.

So buckle up and watch it on Netflix, since each of the six episodes is well worth your time. Putting that aside, let's talk about what we saw in Season 2. The series concluded with some dramatic twists and turns of fate, as well as an emotional climax.

Barbarians Season 3

And the massive battle in the Forest proved to be a confidence-boosting exercise for the Germans, and they are now all geared up for what the future holds now that Arminius has returned from the Roman Army.

He helps his people mount in order to unite the tribes and battle in peace, which produces good results, and he also gets the girl, Thusnelda, which enrages her former boyfriend, Folkswin.

As a result, the pleasant trio's connection becomes strained, but there's also Thusnelda's father, who is hell-bent on proving to the Germans that trusting Arminius is a prescription for disaster.

Despite the fact that the battle is over, the first season leaves numerous questions unsolved, which are addressed in the second season. The second season opened with the aftermath of the big woodland battle between the Germans and the Romans, and when Arminius led the German tribal forces into combat, all hell broke loose.

However, it is the aftermath of the war that is most crucial, as Folkswin had grudgingly approved the marriage, but now that Arminius and Thusnelda are becoming too close, it does not appear that Folkswin is satisfied.

He may conspire against his former best buddy, and there is also Thusnelda's father, Segestes, who is the Germans' snake in the grass since he feels Germans need someone to reign over them because they are incapable of doing so themselves.

Aside from internal squabbles, we witnessed several clashes with the Romans in this season, which have been dubbed the “German battles for independence,” and we can also see the Romans using more harsh techniques to create terror in the minds of the Germans.

Is Netflix's Barbarians Based on a True Story?

It is most obviously so since the tale of Barbarians is based on the historical Battle of the Teutoburg Forest: this key battle took place under the cover of darkness, exactly as it does in the series when an alliance of Germanic tribes targeted the Roman soldiers who subjugated them.

Barbarians Season 3

They were able to defeat three Roman legions during the fight, and there is even a well-known name associated with this historic event. Arminius was the one who gathered the Germanic tribes and created an alliance to battle the Roman soldiers.

And he was able to pull this off because, although being born a prince of the Germanic Cherusci tribe, he was captured as a child by the Romans. We're excited to see what Barbarians Season 3 has in store for us.
