It was just for a few semesters at Georgetown until the 76ers selected him in 1996. It wasn't long before he became one of the best point guards of all time and an 11-time NBA All-Star. On and off the court, Iverson was a divisive figure.
John Thompson, the head coach of Georgetown University, was the first person to notice him when he was serving time in a Virginia prison. As a result of his involvement in a bar brawl, Iverson was facing a significant jail sentence.
