Do you love Documentaries? If I tell you about my choice, I love documentary films. It has a different kind of intriguing capability that compels me to watch it. One such documentary that I watched recently is “Summer of Soul”.

If You have watched this American Documentary film, you definitely know what it is all about, but if you don’t then here, you will get good reasons of why you should watch it.

This documentary that was released on 28 January, 2021, won the award “Grand Jury” at the Sundance Film Festival and also won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.

Unpublished footage from the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival was shot and was stored in a cellar for nearly 50 years. The tape was discovered by producer Robert Fyvolent, who finally bought the film and television rights from its original producer, Hal Tulchin.

Thompson expressed amazement that the tape had been sitting for so long, claiming that music had a significant influence on his life and development “What if this had been given a place at the table? What difference would it have made in my life if it had happened? That was the turning point in my belief in my ability to complete this film.

The festival is also called Black Woodstock. It was a series of music concerts that was organized in Harlem, New York City, and Manhattan during the period of 1969 summer. The concerts were enjoyed by the music and culture lovers who got the opportunity to relish the African American Music and culture.

But you know what, as any event is incomplete without hassle and disruptions, here is one unplanned move that you should know about. For the concert that featured Sly and the Family Stone, the New York City Police Department turned down the responsibility to provide them security, but members of the Black Panther Party covered and provided security to them.

The Cultural Event was sponsored by the Cultural Affairs division of New York City, Maxwell House coffee, and the Parks and recreation.
