Gilbert police said Monday that their investigation into the death of Alex Cox, Lori Vallow Daybell's brother, is complete.

After fainting at his Gilbert home in December 2019, Cox passed away. According to the official report, he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Although the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office had already determined his cause of death to be “natural” in May 2020, Gilbert Police stated that they were still looking into the matter.

The conclusions of the medical examiner's report are cited in the newly released police report.

Cox is just one of several friends and family members of Lori and Chad Daybell who have passed away in recent years.

Lori and Chad are being detained in an Idaho jail on accusations related to the deaths of their children. Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow, both of whom were her children, were discovered dead and buried in June of 2020 in the backyard of Chad Daybell. After Lori relocated the family from Arizona to Idaho in September 2020, they vanished.

Lori Vallow Daybell's fourth husband, Charles Vallow, was allegedly murdered by Cox in July of 2019. Cox initially claimed to have shot first in an act of self-defense, as reported to authorities. There has been no resolution to the matter yet.

The death of Chad Daybell's first wife, Tammy Daybell, is also being investigated in Idaho. After learning more about Chad and Lori, the police decided the death was suspicious and exhumed her remains from her home in October 2019, despite their initial claim that she died of natural causes. There has been no public release of the results of the autopsy.

It was announced in November by Phoenix police that they are also looking into Lori's third husband, Joseph Ryan, death. According to the autopsy results, he had a heart attack in 2018.

According to the case files, Cox and Lori both reside in the same Idaho apartment community. These results also demonstrate that authorities used information gleaned from Cox's phone to determine the precise locations of the children's remains on Chad Daybell's property. The FBI has revealed photos from September 2019 showing Cox, Lori, JJ, and Tylee at Yellowstone National Park on Tylee's last known day of life.

According to Gilbert Police's newly published report, Cox had only just married Zulema Pastenes. According to reports, she is a follower of Chad Daybell, whose allegedly sinister religious beliefs have been linked to the disappearance of several children.

According to the article, Zulema and Lori's daughter called them “preppers” and stated that they were getting ready for the end of the world.

The report states that Zulema informed detectives that she and Cox had been married for around two weeks before his death.

She says his shortness of breath first manifested itself at the beginning of December, and on the 7th, he traveled to Mexico to acquire medication. She says he was wheezing easily and she offered to take him to the emergency room, but he declined.

As reported by Zulema to investigators, she called her son to check on Cox on the day of his death, December 12, 2019. Their kid found Cox unconscious on the bathroom floor and dialed 911. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Banner Gateway.

According to the police report, Zulema spoke with investigators outside her home at first, but then called her lawyer. According to the article, she spoke with detectives at the hospital but ultimately sent them to her son-in-attorney. law's
