Alchemy of Souls Part 2 Episode 8 Recap

Jang Uk & Bu-Yeon plan their strategy for convincing Jin Ho-gyeong to back out of her promise & approve of their relationship. Bu-Yeon returns to her mother for the time being in an effort to calm her down.

After Jang Uk is reminded of his time with Naksu by Bu-Yeon, he proceeds to tell her about the blue marks that would eventually blossom in Naksu's eyes. She says it doesn't matter if he didn't recognize her the first time they met & that she recognized him first this time around.

Yul calls together Park Jin, Kim, the maid, Master Heo, Cho-Yeon & Dang-gu. In order to save his own life, he plans on convincing Jin Ho-gyeong to go back to her word. Bu-Yeon is grateful to Yul for helping her mother see reason & allowing her to continue supporting Jang Uk.

Alchemy of Souls Part 2 Episode 8 Recap & Review

Yul tells her that he is unhappy because he will continue to live while the person he loved will perish, but he does not tell her the whole truth. She suddenly remembers something, prompting her to ask him if they'd met before at Danhyanggok. He recommends that she go there to learn the truth, which will show her why she can only bring Jang Uk misery.

Bu-Yeon makes it clear that she has no interest in learning the truth & begs Yul, as her friend, to look the other way. Lady Heo overhears their exchange. Go Won has forwarded Jang Uk his gold plaque. If he has a plaque, too, he is urged to meet him.

Since So-i has no other living relatives, Yul is in charge of making funeral arrangements for her. Bu-Yeon witnesses Naksu stabbing Jang Uk. She deduces that he was curious about Naksu's inner state at the time. Her attackers claim she was seeking revenge for her family's murder, but he doesn't buy it.

Bu-Yeon only wants to look at her own past & not anyone else's. She agrees & Jang Uk tells her to wait for him to return from his talk with Go Won. Naksu's soul would eventually vanish regardless, so Yul threatens Jin Ho-gyeong into letting Bu-Yeon stay with Jang Uk.

After seeing this, Jin Ho-gyeong is convinced that Master Lee has been lying to her. If Jang Uk doesn't want to fight with Go Won over the gold plaque, he should go to the North Fortress, as Go Won has instructed. The king's order is accepted by Jang Uk.

Jin Mu was taken aback by Jang Uk's casual acceptance. It was revealed by Go Won that Jang Uk only fights to defend his loved ones, so when Go Won challenged him, Jang Uk backed down. Jin Mu admits that he killed Go Won's turtle because he saw it as a symbol of the latter's cowardice.

There is no longer any interest on Go Won's part to locate his misplaced turtle. Bu-Yeon checks out her reflection in the water as she washes off the medication. The medication gave her blue eye color. Using the alchemy of souls, she remembers Naksu & sets out for Danhyanggok in search of the truth.

Although Jang Uk tries to intervene, his efforts are fruitless. Once again, she relocates to the Jinyowon annex. Jang Uk comes to see her off before he returns to the North Fortress. He promises her that he will wait for her this time & that he will not let her go.

Cheonbugwan will initiate rituals at the lake & Jin Mu's secret society will join in. Whenever he can, Go Won is happy to lend a hand. The city of Seoul is in disarray after fake firebirds are discovered in Lake Gyeongcheondaeho. In Jin Mu's mind, this is the key to convincing the Unanimous Assembly to take part in the lake's rituals voluntarily.

He wants Go Won's assistance in putting the dummies in the canals so that they can steal the real firebird from inside Jinyowon. Jin Mu, who is getting on in years, regretfully informs Jin Ho-gyeong that her family no longer has a priestess who can dance for the rite. In order to deny anyone, not even the King, she requests that Cho-Yeon bring the Jinyowon Plaque.

Since she is eager to meet the man who put her life in danger & then used her, Bu-Yeon offers to deliver the plaque on her behalf. She comes across Go Won's turtle along the way, an animal with positive energy that helps the lost find their way.

Jin Mu, acting under Go Won's authority, begs Jin Ho-gyeong to give up Jinyowon because the firebird was put in imminent danger when Jin Mu used it to eliminate Yul's parasite. More importantly, Jinyowon can no longer rely on her family to keep her safe.

This is an impenetrable fortress. The plaque will be thrown in by Jin Mu & Bu-Yeon will have one day to use her abilities to get it out. However, Jin Ho-gyeong is opposed to Bu-Yeon taking the challenge because he fears for her life if she does.

And with that, Bu-Yeon enters the prison, telling her to have faith in her abilities. She brings the turtle along & follows it for a while before a wraith attacks. She unwittingly channels her power into the blue jade she's been carrying & Jang Uk materializes before her to vanquish the ghost. He has noticed the identifying marks in her eyes & is curious about her identity.
