Alchemy of Souls Part 2 Episode 7 Recap
Yul is rescued from the Cheonbugwan mages by Jang Uk. One of them reveals to him that Jin Mu is the one who infected So-i with the blood parasite. Because Yul's death could spark an all-out war between the Seo family, Songrim, and Cheonbugwan, the news quickly spreads, causing widespread panic.
Jang Uk, seething with rage, travels to the village of Cheonbugwan in an effort to eliminate Jin Mu. Despite Jang Uk's death threat, Go Won stands in his way & refuses to move. He has been repressing his feelings of anger & grief, but thinking about Go Won makes him realize that killing Jin Mu now would be a waste of his efforts.
The entrance of Park Jin brings the news that Songrim will be joining Jang Uk. Go Won is going to bring Jin Mu to Jang Uk, so he decides to wait for him. In response to Go Won & the Cheonbugwan mages' insistence, Jin Mu acknowledges his wrongdoing.
In his pleading, he asks Jin Ho-gyeong to assist him in reviving Yul. She agrees to assist Yul because she is ordered by the king. Jin Mu apologizes to Jang Uk after Go Won brings them together, but Jang Uk does not give him any time of day.
Previously, Jang Uk had approached Jin Ho-gyeong for assistance, but she had declined. He finally gets what he wants from her, but only after agreeing to send Bu-Yeon back to her as a condition. Although Bu-Yeon discovers Yul's letter, it is stolen by Lady Heo.
Jin Ho-gyeong, however, explains that the firebird can be used to expel the blood parasite from Yul's body. Park Jin is sent to the Seoho Fortress to reassure Yul's dad that his son is safe. Jang Uk & Go Won are warned not to argue in Jinyowon, the home of the firebird before they enter to save Yul & Go Won agrees to go with him.
At Jinyowon, Bu-Yeon meets Go Won, who learns that she is carrying the parasite & Yul's energy. They learn each other's true identities at long last. Go Won & Jang Uk work together to kill the parasite & Yul is saved by Bu-Yeon, who is able to transfer his energy to his body in time.
After delivering Yul's letter to Park Jin, Lady Heo learns that he has already left & reads the letter, learning that Bu-Yeon is actually Naksu. Insightful Bu-Yeon learns that Jang Uk has pledged to return her to her mother. She gives her permission to leave. Jang Uk has not yet revealed his motivation for wanting her.
He instead claims that she is no longer useful to him. Bu-Yeon, angry & hurt, leaves him but avoids going straight to Jinyowon. Master Lee's plan to settle the dispute between Jang Uk & Go Won has finally been unveiled.
To make Go Won feel better about how things are going between Jang Uk & him, Jin Mu reveals to him that Jang Uk was born under the King's Star. He warns Go Won that Jang Uk is a threat because anyone else could easily take his place.
Since Yul's awakening, Bu-yeon has been staying at Sejukwon to provide care for him. About Bu-yeon being Naksu, Yul confronts Master Lee. But Master Lee tells him to forget about it, saying that Jin Ho-wish gyeong's has come true despite his best efforts.
Two separate spirits are currently sharing Bu-body. Before leaving, Bu-Yeon visits Jang Uk to collect Songrim's Spirit Plaque. Jang Uk expresses his regret & gratitude for all of her efforts. He tells her he has no use for her anymore because he has changed his mind about dying & no longer wants the ice stone removed from his body.
Moreover, he says that he keeps pining for her even though he knows he did the right thing by letting her go. She tells him she wants to be with him, and he kisses her, at last admitting his feelings for her.
Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Episode 7 Ending
Alchemy of Souls season 2 episode 7 ends with the disheartened Jang Uk who is unable to say anything & delves into the sadness he feels after Bu-yeon’s departure. When Seo Yul comes after 3 days, Bu-Yeon & master Lee are there to greet him. As he listens in on their talk, he gathers that master Lee is aware of Bu-true Yeon's identity.
When he confronts master Lee, he learns that Naksu's spirit will leave that body the moment the genuine Jin Bu-soul Yeon is reborn. He explains to him that everything unfolded as the actual Bu-Yeon had planned, with her using Naksu's powers to her advantage & eventually erasing Naksu from existence.
On the flip side, Yoon-ok is just as astonished to learn that Bu-Yeon is actually Naksu as everyone else. In the meantime, Cho-Yeon travels to Sejukwon to get Bu-Yeon, who had been hiding out there until Seo Yul woke up with the expectation that Jang Uk would come looking for her.
However, she was let down by the experience & decided to return the Songrim plaque to Jinyowon. But when she realizes that Jang Uk has come looking for her, she is filled with optimism & eagerly inquires as to what has drawn his attention to this location.
If Bu-Yeon has similar hopes, Jang Uk will act on his confession that he has been missing her and wants to breach his pledge to Ho-Kyung. As he moves in for a kiss, Bu-Yeon concedes to his request.
Alchemy of Souls Part 2 Episode 7 Review
This episode drives the plot along at a considerably faster rate than previous ones have done. It is very clear that Jang Uk is coming closer to discovering the truth about what took place in Naksu.
We get a glimpse of just how far Jang Uk's authority & influence have pushed him in this episode. Never before has it been seen how much dread he generates, even in the king. He has always been considered to be unbeatable & the strongest man alive, but never before has it been seen how much fear he causes.
The fact that plot took even another unexpected turn when it was revealed that Naksu's soul was involved. It's starting to seem less like a twist & more like an addition to the plot that was driven by the writers' hesitation & confusion, which is a shame because it could have been really good.
