Alchemy of Souls Part 2 Episode 6 Recap
Bu-yeon surprises Jang Uk by telling him about the tree in Danhyanggok. She saw in his eyes that it brought up memories of Naksu. She wants him to see her for herself, not for Naksu. Both Bu-yeon & Jang Uk meet Yul, who has come to save So-i. While Bu-yeon guides Yul to So-i, Jang Uk distracts Jin Ho-gyeong.
After being saved, So-i reveals to Yul that Bu-yeon is actually Naksu. Since So-i is confident that Jin Ho-gyeong won't help Yul get rid of the parasite if word gets out, the 2 agree to keep the secret to themselves. Yul clings to Bu-yeon in an affectionate hug.
This time, he is the first to learn Naksu's true identity & he feels it is his duty to do what he could not do 3 years earlier. Jang Uk brings Bu-Yeon home & Lady Heo becomes envious. Later, Bu-yeon reveals to Jang Uk that she & Yul are pals.
To escape detection, Yun-o orders his minions to destroy the firebird replicas. In order to protect the Northern Fortress, Jin Mu suggests that the king promote Jang Uk to the rank of general. He also wants the ritual at the lake moved up in time.
Master Lee tells Jang Uk that a revolt against Cheonbugwan & the royal family would make Jang Uk king if Uk were to win. Uk tells Lee that Cheonbugwan & the royal family are responsible for the depletion of wells.
Jang Gang died trying to shoulder the blame & keep the truth hidden & so did Naksu's father. If he utilizes his abilities to cause turmoil in the world, Park Jin says, he will do whatever it takes to stop him.
In order to protect his beloved Jin Seol-ran, Master Seo Gyeong abandoned the Ice Stone, as Master Lee explains to Jang Uk. On the other hand, Bu-yeon employs her abilities to guide Park Jin to the firebird copies. Cho-Yeon is invited to the queen's tea party. She compliments her attractiveness in a way that hints at a hidden agenda.
Even though they are both aware of Jin Mu's plans, Jang Uk is uninterested enough to do nothing about them. Go Won laments that even though Jang Uk now wields immense powers, he is dead inside. Unaware that the blood parasite is already within Yul, Jin Ho-gyeong warns that Yul will go wild from the anguish if the parasite inside him goes crazy.
A solution exists, though, and he can be saved. In his mind, Master Lee predicts that Bu-Yeon would regain her abilities and later her memories, but that her body will reject her. A recipient of the Spirit Plaque of Songrim, Bu-Yeon has sworn to keep Jang Uk safe. Jang Uk admits he has lost track of what he wants from her despite the fact that she frequently repeats Naksu's old lines.
For her own protection, Yul tries to have So-i leave, but she eventually returns to see if he has gone to Jinyowon for medical help. He finally decides to kill Naksu, deciding that Jang Uk has been through enough pain without adding to it.

Yul sends out his final messages to loved ones & offers to take Bu-yeon to Danhyanggok so that the 2 of them might hang themselves from a tree. Even when Jang Uk recovers memories that are eerily similar to those of Naksu, he makes sure that Bu-Yeon has not been carrying the blue jade.
But as the parasite inside him causes weakness & eventual inability to fight, So-i sacrifices himself in order to protect him. Jang Uk, who has heard from Bu-yeon about Yul's condition & the attack on So-i, rushes to the scene to save him before the men can kill him as well.
Alchemy of Souls Part 2 Episode 6 Review
Alchemy of Souls returns with another dramatic episode with plenty of talking points, especially that bit right at the very end. In the previous chapter, we speculated that either Yul or So-yi would meet an untimely end.
It appears that So-yi has indeed met her end here, having made a heroic sacrifice to buy Yul some time. It's unlikely that Yul has perished as well, and if he's alive, he'll likely give these Cheonbugwan magicians a thorough trouncing in the next few chapters, maybe laying the stage for a showdown with the King.
Even though Bu-yeon still suffers amnesia, she is beginning to regain some of her forgotten memories bit by bit. At this pace, we won't know for sure what will happen to her until the series conclusion.
There's more of a sense of impending doom in this chapter, but the comical subplot involving the Crown Prince and his turtle, as well as the forthcoming wedding preparations, help to lighten the mood.
