What is Adapt?
In Adapt, you will experience a survival evolution game that simulates the continuously changing surroundings that life must negotiate in order to survive.
You and your species will need to find food by employing a variety of nutritional methods, seek out suitable locations, and adapt to seasonal and global climate changes in order to be successful.
As you evolve, your competitors will do so as well, competing for food and territory in order to ensure their own continued existence.
Adapt gets a Trailer
The official announcement trailer for Adapt has been released. The trailer for the new survival evolution game was released earlier today, along with a press release announcing the game.
Adapt is a game in which players are tasked with creating and evolving their own species. Players will have to battle against harsh conditions, a scarcity of food, and even other dangerous species in order to survive.
If this all looks and sounds a little familiar to you, you're not alone in your suspicions. Adapt has been compared to the 2008 survival evolution game Spore, developed by Maxis and Electronic Arts.
For this reason, the publishers at Slug Disco Studios have created the term “spore-like” to define the genre they are promoting.
Key Features of the game
Adapt's Steam Page states the key features as follows:
- Customization of species through a change of genetics and physical characteristics to choose your evolutionary strategy is possible.
- A wide range of adaptations is available to accommodate a wide range of play styles and physical features.
- It is seasonal in the way that plants behave and grow, producing seeds and fruit while losing leaves and serving as a haven for tasty insects in the process.
- Complex species AI behaviors include food hunting, the partner seeking, tracking, and hiding from predators, to name a few examples.
- Survivalists have attempted to survive practically anywhere, from the summits of mountains to the depths of the ocean.
- A species's specialization is achieved through the use of particular talents such as different nutritional and locomotor methods, shells, poisons, and the ability to climb.
- Hunters and prey alike will pursue, chase, and track potential prey in preparation for an ambush, and they may even cooperate in exchange for a quick meal.
- Visual, aural, and scent queues are used to keep tabs on possible buddies, predators, and food sources, among other things.
- Dynamic day/night cycles, as well as seasonal cycles, help to create a world that is alive and continuously changing.
- Diverse species connections and distinct experiences are facilitated by a variety of reproduction techniques.
