About Quiet Place Part 2
The sequel to 2018's A Quiet Place, A Quiet Place Part II follows the family from the previous film as they continue to explore and live in a post-apocalyptic world populated by aliens who had an acute sense of hearing.
Spectators at a baseball game attended by the Abbott family stare upwards as a blazing object hurtles towards the Earth. The town is plagued and assaulted by hostile extraterrestrial beings with plated skin and amazing speed and strength as people depart the park and seek to drive away. The blind animals have acute hearing, which allows them to track and target their prey.
Over a year later, the aliens had killed a large portion of the Earth's population, including Lee Abbott, who gave his life to rescue his surviving family, which includes his wife Evelyn, deaf teen daughter Regan, adolescent son Marcus, and a newborn son.
Interesting Things to Know
The first picture, A Quiet Place, was made on a $17 million budget by Paramount Pictures.
In April 2018, the studio released the picture in the United States and Canada, crossing $50.2 million on its opening weekend, much above the studio's mid-$20 million estimates.
Jim Gianopulos, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures, revealed in April that a sequel was in the works. In the United States and Canada, the first picture grossed $188 million, with $340.9 million worldwide.
Three months following the release of A Quiet Place, Krasinski began pondering ideas for a sequel.
According to Krasinski, several writers and filmmakers' ideas were turned down because they were too franchise-oriented.
Do you know, the team avoided generating noise during filming in order to capture diegetic synchronised noises (such as the sound of rolling dice on a gaming board); the sounds were then enhanced in post-production?
A standard musical score was also inserted, which Krasinski explained by stating that he wanted spectators to feel like they saw a popular picture rather than a “silent experiment.”
