Summit Entertainment's Twilight Saga is a collection of five vampire-themed romantic fantasy films based on Stephenie Meyer's four published books. 3.4 billion dollars have been made by the series globally.
On November 21, 2008, Twilight was published as the first episode. On November 20, 2009, New Moon came the second part, which broke box office records as the most extensive midnight screening and opening day in history, grossing an estimated $72.7 million.
As of June 30, 2010, Eclipse had been released in IMAX, making it the first in this series to do so, As early as 2004, Paramount Pictures had been working on a version of Twilight that was very different from the novel.
A two-part adaptation of Breaking Dawn began production in November 2010 and will be released on November 18, 2011, and 16, 2012. Summit Entertainment purchased the film's rights three years later.
For New Moon, Summit Entertainment confirmed that they were going ahead with production; they had just purchased the rights to the rest of the books earlier in the month.
