Vanillaware's tactical mecha and kaiju-fighting adventure is a must-play. Thirteen Sentinels: The Nintendo Switch version of Aegis Rim will be released on April 12. Pre-orders for the game can be placed digitally through the Switch eShop or Nintendo's website, while physical copies of the game can be purchased from a variety of retailers. It is possible that 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is the most underappreciated video game of 2020. It tells the story of 13 high school students from various Japanese historical periods who are all drawn into a future war against hostile monsters while piloting giant mecha. The plot of this anime adventure story appears to be fairly standard, but the story's timeline is a non-linear journey through various time periods, including post-World War II Japan, 1985 Japan, and a far-future Japan.
It's difficult to describe the gameplay of 13 Sentinel because the narrative is told through a variety of different elements. The majority of the dialogue takes place in visual novel format, while the majority of the level exploration takes place in 2D sidescroller format. Real-time tactics are used in the battle against the kaiju by your team of robotic Sentinels against the monsters.
Because of this jumble of disparate elements, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is a completely unique experience that hits different people in different ways. In our review, Peter gave 13 Sentinels a 3.5 out of 5-star rating, noting that the game had some pacing issues and had a confusing format for those who were expecting it to fall into a specific gaming genre. On the other hand, if you enjoy a good story, 13 Sentinels is a book that will not disappoint.
